Porto Cervo is the heart of the Costa Smeralda, the stretch of north-east Sardinia developed in the 1960s by the Aga Khan and now one of the most exclusive summer destinations in the Mediterranean. Its marina, Piazzetta and designer boutiques are about 40 km from Olbia Airport, a drive of 40 to 50 minutes through granite hills and fragrant macchia.
Olbia has few taxis, and summer Saturdays are chaotic, with most villa rentals changing over on the same day. A pre-booked transfer, in an executive sedan, a van for the family or a minibus for the whole party, means you land, walk out and go.

The drive from OLB to Porto Cervo
From the airport, your driver heads north on the SS125, passing the turn-offs for Porto Rotondo and San Pantaleo, then follows the road into the Costa Smeralda through Abbiadori and down to Porto Cervo. The last part of the drive, with views over the islands of the Maddalena archipelago, is one of the most beautiful arrivals in Italy.
The drive takes 40 to 50 minutes. In July and August, especially on Saturdays and around the evening aperitivo hour, traffic around Porto Cervo slows everything down, so allow a little extra.
Meeting your driver at Olbia Airport
Olbia Airport's commercial terminal is compact, and arrivals are quick except during the Saturday rush in July and August. After baggage reclaim, go out into the arrivals hall, where your driver waits holding a sign with your name.

When to book your Porto Cervo transfer
The Costa Smeralda season runs from June to mid-September, peaking in late July and August, especially around Ferragosto on 15 August. Early September brings the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup to Porto Cervo. Saturdays are the busiest travel days, so request your quote early and share your flight number so we can track it.
