Private transfer from Naples Airport to Sorrento
Sorrento sits on cliffs above the Bay of Naples, looking back across the water at Vesuvius, and makes an easy base for Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. It is 52 km from Naples Airport, about an hour by road.
The public options work, but they are hard going with luggage: the Circumvesuviana train is famously crowded, with steps at every station. A private transfer takes you from arrivals straight to your hotel door, or to the ferry pier if you're continuing to Capri, for one fixed price for the whole vehicle.

The drive from NAP to Sorrento
From the airport, your driver joins the A3 motorway south around the base of Vesuvius, past Pompeii to Castellammare di Stabia. From there the SS145, the Sorrento coast road, follows the bay through Vico Equense, Meta and Piano di Sorrento, with views back across the water to Naples and the volcano.
The drive takes about an hour, or up to 1 hour 15 minutes in summer, when the coast road is busy. The last few kilometres through Sant'Agnello into Sorrento are usually the slowest part.
Meeting your driver at Naples Airport
Naples Airport has one passenger terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor. After baggage reclaim, walk out into the arrivals hall, where your driver waits holding a sign with your name. The car is parked a short walk from the terminal exit.

When to book your Sorrento transfer
Sorrento's season runs from April to October, busiest from June to September, when the coast road and the ferry piers are at their fullest. Unlike Positano, Sorrento is a real town and many hotels stay open all year, so it also makes a good winter base for Pompeii and Naples.
