Orly to Paris: the quickest door-to-door option
Paris Orly is the closer of the two big Paris airports, only 13 km south of the city boundary. Getting from Orly to Paris by private car takes 25 to 50 minutes depending on traffic: your driver meets you at Paris Orly arrivals with a name sign, takes the motorway north and drops you at your hotel, apartment or office door.
Since 2024 the metro has reached Orly too, and line 14 gets you to Châtelet in about 25 minutes. For one person with a small bag that is the obvious choice. A private car makes sense when you have luggage, children or an early meeting, when your hotel is not near a line 14 station, or when you land late. The price is per car, so it often costs a family of four less than four airport tickets plus a taxi at the other end.

The drive from ORY to Paris
Orly sits south of Paris between the A6 motorway and the old N7 road to the south. Your driver leaves the terminals on the A106, a short, toll-free link motorway, and joins the A6. One branch of the A6 enters Paris at Porte d'Orléans, on the Left Bank side, and the other at Porte d'Italie and Porte d'Ivry, to the east; the driver picks whichever suits your address and the traffic. There are no tolls on the way.
The Boulevard Périphérique, the ring road around Paris, now has a 50 km/h speed limit, and on weekday rush hours its left lane is reserved for buses, taxis, shared cars and hire cars carrying passengers. Your car can use it when it is busy.
Most of the 25 to 50 minutes is spent on the last few kilometres inside Paris. The heart of the city, the 1st to 4th arrondissements including the Marais, is now closed to through traffic, but trips that start or end there are allowed, so the car takes you right to the door.

For the return trip, your driver collects you from your hotel and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time. Tell us your terminal and departure time, and we will suggest a pickup that allows for Paris traffic.

Where we drop off in Paris
Every address in Paris is door to door. Many hotels are on narrow one-way streets where the car stops in the road for a minute while your bags come out, so have your hotel address and door code to hand.

Right Bank hotels and offices in the 1st, 8th and 9th arrondissements.

Hotels and apartments around the Champ de Mars, Invalides and Rue Cler.

When to book your Paris transfer
Paris is busy all year, but certain weeks fill every hotel and slow the roads: the fashion weeks in January, early March, late June and late September to early October; Roland-Garros in late May and early June; and the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, next held from 14 to 20 June 2027. The Paris Marathon closes central streets on a Sunday in April.
August is the quietest month on Paris roads, as many residents leave the city. The worst traffic is on weekday mornings and evenings, and on Friday afternoons when Parisians head out of town on the A6.
During runway works at Orly, some flights can be moved to Charles de Gaulle at short notice. Check your booking before you fly; if you land at CDG instead, message us and we will rearrange the pickup there.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Paris
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 25–50 min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Metro line 14 | 25 minutes to Châtelet | Direct from the Orly 3 station to Châtelet, Gare de Lyon and Saint-Lazare, every few minutes. Fast and simple if your hotel is near the line; stairs and crowds with luggage. |
| Orlyval + RER B | About 35 minutes | The Orlyval shuttle train to Antony, then the RER B to Denfert-Rochereau, Saint-Michel or Châtelet. One change. |
| Tram T7 + metro | About 1 hour 20 minutes | The cheapest option: tram to Villejuif, then metro line 7 into the centre. Slow, with a change. |
| Taxi | 25–45 minutes | Official Paris taxis charge a fixed fare from Orly to the Left Bank and a slightly higher one to the Right Bank. You queue at the rank at the arrivals exit. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Paris transfer suits
Families
No metro stairs with pushchairs and suitcases. Child seats are fitted before pickup, and a minivan seats up to seven.
Late arrivals
The metro runs until about half past midnight and Orlyval stops earlier. A booked car waits however late you land.
Business travellers
A driver in arrivals, a quiet car for calls, and a drop-off at the office door rather than a metro station.
Hotels away from line 14
The metro is quick to Châtelet and Gare de Lyon. For the 7th, the 16th or Montmartre, the car saves one or two changes.
Plan the rest of your Paris trip
- Book timed tickets for the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower summit and the Sainte-Chapelle before you travel. Queues for walk-up tickets can run to hours in spring and summer.
- Many Paris hotels are in older buildings with small lifts. Check whether your room is up a staircase if you are travelling with heavy cases.
- If you land early, most hotels will hold your bags until check-in. Ask the driver to drop you there first, then head out for breakfast.
- Paris to Disneyland Paris is 45 minutes to an hour by road. We quote transfers from your hotel, or from either airport, as with our Disneyland Paris transfer.
- Heading south after Paris? We run transfers on the Riviera, such as Nice Airport to Monaco, for the second half of your trip.
- For your flight home from Orly, leave central Paris about two and a half hours before a European departure, and three hours before a long-haul flight. Add time on weekday evenings.
