Palma airport to Alcúdia, straight to your hotel
Alcúdia sits on the north-east tip of Mallorca, on a peninsula between the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença. A private transfer from Palma airport to Alcúdia crosses the island in about 55 minutes: your driver meets you in arrivals at Palma Airport and takes the Ma-13 motorway north to your hotel door.
Most visitors stay not in the walled old town but along the bay: in Port d'Alcúdia, Platja d'Alcúdia and Platja de Muro, where a beach of about 14 km runs down to Can Picafort. The summer Aerotib bus serves the main stops on that strip and is good value for a couple with light bags. A car makes more sense with children and buggies, after a late landing, for a group sharing one fixed price, or for a hotel or villa away from the bus stops.

The drive from PMI to Alcúdia
From the terminal, your driver takes the Ma-19 towards Palma for a kilometre or so, then a short link road north to join the Ma-13, the motorway that crosses Mallorca's central plain from Palma to the Bay of Alcúdia.
The Ma-13 runs north-east past Marratxí, Santa Maria and Consell, through the vineyards around Binissalem, and past Inca at roughly the halfway point. The Serra de Tramuntana runs along the whole left-hand side of the trip. Beyond Inca the motorway continues across farmland, bypasses Sa Pobla and brings you almost to the edge of Alcúdia, where ordinary roads lead to the old town, the port and the beach hotels. That is the line on the diagram: about 59 km to the old town gates.
For hotels in Port d'Alcúdia the driver turns towards the marina before the old town, and for Platja d'Alcúdia and Platja de Muro follows the beach road south along the bay. Villas on the peninsula are reached on the narrower coast road east of the port.
In normal traffic the trip takes about 55 minutes. The slowest parts are usually at either end: the roads around Palma and the airport at weekday rush hours, and the beach road through Port d'Alcúdia and Platja de Muro on summer evenings. At worst, allow about an hour and a quarter.
With motorway for almost the whole trip and no mountain hairpins, it is a comfortable first hour for anyone tired after a flight, including small children.

Meeting your driver at Palma Airport
Palma Airport has a single large terminal, and all arrivals come out on the ground floor, floor 0. After baggage reclaim, walk into the arrivals hall, where your driver waits holding a sign with your name. Pre-booked cars collect passengers from the pick-up area outside the terminal on the same level, a short walk from the doors.
Palma Airport has one terminal, and all arrivals come out on floor 0. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, then walks you to the car in the pick-up area outside the terminal on the same level. You get the driver’s name and number before the trip, which helps on busy summer days.
Add your flight number when you book and we track it: the pickup moves with delays at no extra cost, and your 60 minutes of free waiting start when you actually land. For the journey home, your driver collects you from your hotel and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time; allow for the hour-long drive when you choose the pickup.

Where we drop off in Alcúdia and the bay
Hotels along the bay are door to door. Inside the old town walls the lanes are narrow and partly pedestrian, so for hotels there the car stops at the nearest gate or open street. Tell us the hotel or villa name when you book, and the driver plans the closest legal stop.
Alcúdia old town
The 14th-century walled town, with the Roman ruins of Pollentia just outside. Small hotels in the lanes; the car stops at the closest gate.
Port d’Alcúdia
The marina, the ferry terminal and the busiest restaurant streets, about 61 km from the airport. Hotels and apartments here are door to door.
Platja d’Alcúdia
The long line of family hotels behind the beach, running south from the port. Most have their own drop-off area at the entrance.
Platja de Muro and S’Albufera
Beach hotels next to the S’Albufera natural park, popular with birdwatchers, about 63 km from the airport. Can Picafort is a little further.
Bonaire and the Cap des Pinar road
Quieter villas and apartments on the peninsula east of the port, reached by a narrower coast road. Send a map pin for private houses.

When to book your Alcúdia transfer
Alcúdia is a summer resort: many beach hotels and port restaurants open only for the season, roughly May to October, and July and August are the busiest months, with families filling the bay. Arrival days are heaviest at weekends, when the airport and the beach road are at their slowest. A morning landing usually means a quicker run.
Spring and autumn bring cyclists and walkers. The flat roads around the bay and the climbs towards Pollença and the Tramuntana make the north of the island popular with cyclists, so tell us about bike boxes when you book.
The old town has a market on Tuesdays and Sundays all year, and the Alcúdia Fair fills the walled town with stalls, music and a Roman market over a weekend in early October.
In winter many hotels close and the airport bus stops running, but the old town and the port stay lived-in. A pre-booked car is then the easiest way to get here.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Alcúdia
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 55 min – 1h 15min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Aerotib A32 bus | 1–1½ hours + walk | A seasonal express bus from arrivals via Inca and Sa Pobla to Alcúdia, the port, Platja d’Alcúdia, Platja de Muro and Can Picafort. Good value, but you walk from the stop with your bags. |
| Airport taxi | 55–75 minutes | Metered taxis from the rank outside arrivals, door to door. A family with luggage or a group may need two cabs, and you may queue at busy times. |
| Rental car | 55–75 minutes plus pick-up | Straightforward motorway driving, and useful for exploring the north. You join the rental queues after landing, and a car is not needed for a beach week in the bay. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Alcúdia transfer suits
Families with young children
Child and booster seats fitted before pickup, buggies in the boot and a smooth motorway hour. One price for the car, not per person; tell us the children’s ages.
Cyclists
The north of Mallorca is a cycling base in spring and autumn. Tell us how many bike boxes you have and we send a minivan or minibus with room for them.
Nature lovers and walkers
Birdwatchers heading for S’Albufera and walkers bound for the Tramuntana. Ask for a drop-off at a quiet hotel near the park or in the old town.
Groups of friends
A minibus takes up to 16 people with luggage, so the whole group leaves the airport together instead of splitting across taxis.
Plan the rest of your Alcúdia stay
- Arrive on a Monday or Saturday? The old town market is on Tuesdays and Sundays, so plan your first morning in the walled town around it.
- Walk the top of the old town walls and visit the Pollentia ruins in the morning, before the heat. The Roman remains are just outside the gates.
- Pollença and its bay are a short drive north. We quote day trips and hotel-to-hotel transfers if you split your stay between the two bays.
- S’Albufera, the wetland park behind Platja de Muro, is quietest early or late in the day. Bring binoculars and insect repellent in summer.
- Travelling on through Spain? See our Spain transfers, including Madrid Airport into the city if you connect through the capital.
- For the flight home, leave Alcúdia about three hours before a European departure: an hour for the drive and two at the airport. Add time on summer Saturdays.
