Rhodes airport to Lindos, from arrivals to the village square
Lindos is the white village under the acropolis, on the east coast of Rhodes and 52 km by road from Diagoras Airport on the west side of the island. A private Rhodes airport to Lindos transfer takes about an hour: your driver meets you outside arrivals at Rhodes Airport, crosses the island and follows the main coast road south to Lindos.
There is no direct bus. Public transport means the municipal bus into Rhodes town, a walk to the KTEL stop and a coach down the coast, about two and a half hours with luggage on a good day. The village itself is a maze of narrow lanes with no room for cars, so drivers stop at the main square at the top of the village, where many hotels meet their guests.
Staying outside the village, at Vlicha Bay, Pefkos or Lardos? Your driver takes you to the hotel door. The price is fixed for the whole vehicle, so it works out well for families and groups.

The drive from RHO to Lindos
Rhodes Airport is at Paradisi on the west coast, 14 km south-west of Rhodes town. Lindos is on the east coast, so the first stretch crosses the island: from the terminal your driver takes the road inland past Pastida to meet the Rhodes to Lindos national road near Faliraki, about 12 km from the airport.
From there it is a straight run south down the east side of the island. The road passes Afantou and the turn for Kolymbia, runs below the hilltop monastery of Tsambika, skirts Archangelos and continues through olive groves and low hills past Malona and Kalathos. Near the end it drops past Vlicha Bay, and the acropolis appears on its rock above the sea just before the village. In all it is about 52 km, on main roads the whole way.
Allow an hour in normal traffic and up to 80 minutes in July and August, when the national road carries coaches, hire cars and quad bikes, and the last kilometre slows around the coach and bus stops at the top of Lindos. Mid-morning, when day trippers head south from Rhodes town, and late afternoon, when they return, are the slowest times. Evening and night arrivals are usually the quickest.
There is no road into Lindos village. The lanes are paved in pebble mosaic, often stepped, and lined with whitewashed houses, so cars, taxis and buses all stop at the main square. Your driver unloads there and helps with the bags. Hotels around Lindos, at Vlicha Bay, St Paul's Bay, Pefkos and Lardos, are reached door to door, and if you want a planned stop on the way, such as a supermarket for a villa, add it to your quote.

Meeting your driver at Rhodes Airport
Rhodes Airport has separate buildings for arrivals and departures. Flights arrive at the arrivals terminal (T1). After baggage reclaim, and passport control if you are flying in from outside the Schengen area, walk out to the front of the building, where your driver waits with a sign showing your name. The taxi rank and the bus stop are close by, but your car is reserved for you.
Rhodes Airport has separate buildings for arrivals and departures. Flights arrive at the arrivals terminal (T1): after baggage reclaim, and passport control if you are flying in from outside the Schengen area, walk out to the front of the building, where your driver waits with a sign showing your name. We track your flight, move the pickup with any delay at no extra cost, and your 60 minutes of free waiting start when you actually land. Your driver's name and phone number reach you before the trip.
For the flight home, your driver meets you at the main square in Lindos, or at your hotel door outside the village, and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time. Arrivals and departures use different buildings, so you will be dropped at the departures terminal.

Where we drop off in and around Lindos
Lindos village is a tangle of whitewashed lanes and steps under the acropolis, with no room for cars. Transfers stop at the main square at the top of the village, by the bus and taxi stop, and village hotels commonly meet guests there to help with luggage. Hotels outside the village, from Kalathos and Vlicha Bay to Pefkos and Lardos, get a door-to-door drop-off.
Lindos village
Old captains’ houses and boutique hotels in the lanes below the acropolis. Drop-off at the main square, then a walk of a few minutes, mostly downhill on cobbles.
St Paul’s Bay
The small bay just south of the acropolis, with a chapel popular for weddings. Villas and a few hotels nearby are reached by road.
Vlicha Bay and Kalathos
Beach hotels on the bays just north of Lindos, passed on the way in. Door-to-door drop-off, and a short ride into the village for dinner.
Pefkos
A resort village about 6 km beyond Lindos, with family hotels, apartments and villas. Door-to-door, adding only around ten minutes to the drive.
Lardos
A traditional inland village and its beach, about 10 km past Lindos, with larger resorts on the coast nearby. Door-to-door drop-off.

When to book your Lindos transfer
Lindos is busiest from June to September. July and August bring the strongest heat, plus day-trip coaches and boats from Rhodes town, so the village and the acropolis are most crowded from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Rhodes Airport handled more than 7 million passengers in 2025, most of them on international flights, and the arrivals hall is at its fullest when several charters land together. Travellers on flights from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK, also queue at passport control, where non-EU citizens now register in the EU's Entry/Exit System.
Two dates are especially busy on the roads: 15 August, the Feast of the Assumption and a public holiday across Greece, and Greek Orthodox Easter, which falls on 2 May 2027. May, June, late September and October are warm and much calmer, and many visitors prefer them for climbing to the acropolis.
If you can choose, land in the late afternoon or evening: the drive is quicker, and the walk down from the square to your hotel is cooler.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Lindos
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 1h – 1h 20min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Bus via Rhodes town | 2½–3 hours | The municipal RODA bus runs from the airport to Rhodes town from early morning until after midnight in summer. From there, walk to the KTEL stop for a coach down the east coast to Lindos: one change, with luggage. |
| Taxi | About 1 hour, plus the queue | The taxi rank is in front of the arrivals building. Fine for up to four people, but queues build when several charter flights land together in summer, and taxis also stop at the square. |
| Holiday coach | 1½–2½ hours | Package holidays often include a shared coach that drops at several hotels along the coast. It costs you little but stops often, and coaches cannot enter Lindos either. |
| Rental car | 1 hour, plus parking | Good for exploring the island, but parking near Lindos is limited in summer, and you still walk into the village with your bags from the edge. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Lindos transfer suits
Families
Child seats for the ages you give us, and one price for the car rather than per person. A minivan takes seven people and their luggage, with no change of bus in Rhodes town.
Wedding guests
The chapel at St Paul’s Bay is a popular wedding venue. Minibuses take 8 to 16 guests, and separate cars can be timed for guests landing on different flights.
Couples in village hotels
Your driver stops at the square, where many village hotels meet arriving guests, so the walk down the lanes can start with someone else carrying the bags.
Late arrivals
Landing late in the evening? A pre-booked car is waiting whatever the hour, the coast road is quiet at night, and you avoid the last-bus scramble in Rhodes town.
Plan the rest of your Lindos stay
- Climb to the acropolis early in the day, before the coaches and boat trips arrive. The path is steep, polished stone with little shade, so take water and good shoes.
- Pack bags with sturdy wheels, or ones you can carry: the lanes from the square are paved with pebble mosaic and partly stepped.
- Tell your village hotel the drop-off time we give you, and ask whether someone can meet you at the square with a trolley.
- Rhodes Old Town is about an hour north by car. For a day trip we can quote a return car, or take the KTEL bus from the square.
- Island hopping? Direct flights link Rhodes with Heraklion, and we run the Heraklion to Elounda transfer on Crete, plus Santorini Airport to Fira. See all our Greek airport transfers.
- For the flight home, leave Lindos about three hours before a summer departure: about an hour on the road and two hours at the airport.
