Private transfer from Santorini Airport to Oia
Oia, on the northern tip of Santorini, is the village on the postcards: white cave houses and blue domes stacked on the caldera cliffs, with the most famous sunset in Greece. It is 19 km from Santorini Airport, across the island.
With a private transfer, getting there is simple; without one, it's complicated. Santorini has few taxis, the public bus to Oia means a change in Fira, and the village itself is car-free. Your driver meets you outside arrivals, drives you to the edge of Oia and helps you and your luggage to the point where your hotel's porter takes over.

The drive from JTR to Oia
From the airport on the east coast, your driver heads west across the island towards Fira, then north along the rim of the caldera through Firostefani and Imerovigli, past the vineyards and the village of Finikia to Oia. On the way you get your first views down into the caldera.
The drive takes 25 to 35 minutes. The road through Fira is the bottleneck, especially in the late afternoon, when half the island heads to Oia for the sunset. If you land in the late afternoon, allow a little extra.
Meeting your driver at Santorini Airport
Santorini Airport's single terminal is small for the number of summer flights, and the arrivals area can be crowded at midday. After baggage reclaim, walk outside the terminal, where your driver waits at the arrivals exit holding a sign with your name. The car is parked a few steps away.

Oia's marble lanes are pedestrian-only, so cars stop at the edge of the village. Tell us your hotel and we'll use the closest drop-off; many cave hotels send a porter to meet you.

When to book your Oia transfer
Santorini's season runs from April to October, busiest from June to September, when cruise ships add thousands of day visitors to Fira and Oia. Sunset in Oia draws huge crowds in summer; arrive in the late afternoon and the last few kilometres will be slow.
Many Oia hotels close from November to March. The island is quieter and cheaper in spring and autumn, which many visitors consider the best time to come.
