Abu Dhabi Airport to Saadiyat Island, door to door
An Abu Dhabi Airport to Saadiyat Island transfer is a quick, simple run: about 32 km, almost all of it on one highway, in around 25 minutes. Your driver meets you in the Terminal A arrivals hall at Zayed International Airport and drives you past Yas Island to your beach resort, your villa or the museums of the Saadiyat Cultural District.
Saadiyat is spread out. The beach hotels, the Louvre and the residential districts sit a few kilometres apart, and there is no metro. The free Experience Abu Dhabi shuttle bus and the airport taxi rank are both options, but a pre-booked car means no waiting outside in the heat with luggage, and one fixed price for the whole vehicle.
If your flight lands in Dubai instead, our Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer takes about two hours to Saadiyat. Seeing both cities? Add a few nights in Downtown Dubai to the same trip, and we will quote every leg.

The drive from AUH to Saadiyat Island
From Terminal A, your driver joins Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street (E10) for a couple of kilometres, then turns north onto Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway (E12), the coastal expressway that links the airport with the islands. It runs right past Yas Island, where the red roof of Ferrari World is visible from the highway, then crosses the mangrove channels of Al Jubail Island and continues to Saadiyat.
You leave the highway at the Saadiyat exits. One way leads to the beach resorts on the island's north shore; the other to the Cultural District, where the Louvre Abu Dhabi's silver dome sits by the water near Mamsha Al Saadiyat. The E12 carries on across the water to Abu Dhabi island itself, about ten minutes further on, which is why Saadiyat feels close to both the airport and the city.
The drive is about 32 km and takes around 25 minutes in normal traffic, a few minutes more to the Louvre. Abu Dhabi charges its Darb road tolls only in the rush hours, 07:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 19:00, except on Sundays and public holidays, and traffic is heaviest in the same windows; allow up to 40 minutes then. Any tolls on your route are included in your price.
On Grand Prix weekend, and on concert and event nights at Yas Island, the stretch of highway past Yas can be heavily congested. Your driver plans around it, but if you land at those times, expect the longer end of the range. Late-night arrivals usually get the quickest run of the day.

Older guides that mention Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are out of date: those buildings have closed to passengers.

Where we drop off on Saadiyat Island
Saadiyat is a large island with distinct districts several kilometres apart: the resorts along the beach, the Cultural District with its museums, the golf course and its villas, and residential areas such as Mamsha Al Saadiyat. Every hotel and museum has a car drop-off, and the car goes to the door. For villas and apartments, send the community name and a map pin with your booking.
Saadiyat Beach resorts
The hotels along the island’s north shore, behind a long beach where hawksbill turtles nest. Each resort has its own driveway, about 25 minutes from the airport.
Saadiyat Cultural District
Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, teamLab Phenomena and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, with the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi still to come. Drop-off at each visitor entrance.
Mamsha Al Saadiyat
The low-rise beachfront district of apartments, cafés and restaurants beside the Louvre. Tell us your building name so the driver uses the right entrance road.
Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and villas
The golf course and the villa communities around it, inland from the beach resorts. Share your villa number and community gate, and any access code you have.
Hidd Al Saadiyat
The quieter eastern edge of the island, with its marina and private villas. Gated, so give us the community name and a contact number for the gate.

When to book your Saadiyat Island transfer
Saadiyat's season runs from October to April, when the beaches and the museum terraces are at their most comfortable. January's average high is about 24°C; from June to September it averages 40 to 42°C, and the short walks between car, lobby and gallery are as much time outdoors as most people want.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit runs from 4 to 6 December 2026. Hotels across the city fill for it, and the highway past Yas Island is busiest around the sessions, so book your transfer early and, if you can, land well ahead of them.
Ramadan in 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February and end with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March, with dates confirmed by moon sighting. Museum opening hours often change during Ramadan, so check before you plan a visit, and avoid eating or drinking in public in daylight, including in the car. Transfers run as normal throughout.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Saadiyat Island
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 25–40 min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Experience Abu Dhabi shuttle bus | Depends on the timetable | Free, air-conditioned buses with Wi-Fi on eight routes linking Yas, Jubail, Saadiyat and the city centre, with a link from the airport. Check the timetable before relying on it after a late landing. |
| Abu Dhabi taxi | 25–40 minutes | Silver metered taxis with yellow roof signs serve the airport, and family taxis and adapted vans can be booked ahead. You queue at the rank, and the fare is not fixed in advance. |
| Ride-hailing apps | 25–40 minutes | Uber and Careem both operate across Abu Dhabi, with prices that change with demand. Check the app for the airport pickup point, and allow for a wait at busy times. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Saadiyat Island transfer suits
Beach holidays
Saadiyat’s resorts are made for a week of sun. A car straight from arrivals puts you on the sand or by the pool about half an hour after you clear customs.
Museum and culture trips
Here for the Louvre, Zayed National Museum and teamLab? Your driver can drop the luggage at your hotel and take you on to a museum entrance, as one booking.
Families
Child seats fitted before pickup, and a minivan for up to seven people with six or seven suitcases, at one price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat.
Grand Prix visitors
Yas Marina Circuit is on the way from the airport. Stay on Saadiyat’s quieter beaches, and ask us to quote your race-day rides to and from the circuit as well.
Plan the rest of your Saadiyat stay
- Louvre Abu Dhabi is closed on Mondays and generally opens at 10:00 on other days. If you land on a Monday, plan the beach first and the museum later in the week.
- The tourism board suggests two to three hours each for the Louvre and Zayed National Museum. Both in one day is possible, but a museum pass and two shorter visits are kinder on the feet.
- Hawksbill turtles nest on Saadiyat’s beaches, one of the few places in the region where they do. Follow the beach signs and keep well clear of any nesting areas.
- Bringing prescription medicines? The UAE requires advance approval for some medications, applied for online through the Ministry of Health, and unapproved medicines can be confiscated on arrival.
- Continuing to Dubai? We quote hotel-to-hotel rides from Saadiyat to Dubai Marina, about 1 hour 15 minutes away, and to Downtown Dubai, about 1 hour 30 minutes, longer in rush hour.
- For your flight home, leave Saadiyat about three hours before departure. The drive is short, but Terminal A is a large building, and you will want time for check-in and security.
