Doha Airport to West Bay by car: what to expect
A private Doha Airport to West Bay transfer covers about 19 km, from the arrivals hall at Hamad International to the towers of Doha's business district, in around 25 minutes. Your driver meets you after customs, loads the bags and follows the curve of Doha Bay along the Corniche to your hotel, office or apartment.
Doha has a good metro, and its Red Line runs from the airport's own station to West Bay. For a solo traveller with light luggage, it is a sensible choice. A car earns its place when you land late at night, travel as a family or group, carry several suitcases, or are staying in a tower some way from a station. One price covers the whole vehicle, however many seats you fill.
West Bay is also close to Katara, The Pearl and Lusail, and we quote any address in Qatar. Flying on to the Emirates later in your trip? See Dubai Airport to Downtown Dubai.

The drive from DOH to Doha West Bay
From the terminal, your driver takes the airport roads north towards the old city and joins Ras Bu Abboud Street, which runs along the shore past the old port district. About ten minutes after leaving the airport you reach the start of the Corniche, the 7 km waterfront road that curves around Doha Bay.
The Corniche is the scenic way in. Heading west, the Museum of Islamic Art stands on its own promontory to your right, with the dhow harbour beside it, while the old souq quarter around Souq Waqif lies just inland on your left. The West Bay skyline sits across the water ahead, and the road carries you right into it, towards the Sheraton Grand at the tip of the bay. From there the driver turns into the grid of towers around City Center Doha and the exhibition centre.
The whole drive is about 19 km and takes around 25 minutes in normal traffic. Weekday mornings and late afternoons are slower, especially at the West Bay end, where offices empty onto the Corniche; allow up to 45 minutes then.
If the Corniche is closed for an event, your driver uses Doha's inland ring roads and reaches West Bay from behind, still finishing at the door of your building. At night the whole journey can take under 25 minutes, and the lit towers across the bay are a fine first view of the city.

Meeting your driver at Doha Airport
Hamad International has one passenger terminal, so there is a single arrivals hall. After passport control, baggage reclaim and customs, walk out into the Arrivals Hall, where your driver waits holding a sign with your name. The driver then walks you out through the arrival gates to the car, parked across the service road; the airport's multi-level car park sits directly opposite the exits.
Hamad International has one passenger terminal, so there is only one arrivals hall to find. After passport control, baggage reclaim and customs, your driver waits in the Arrivals Hall with a sign showing your name and walks you out to the car, parked across the service road from the arrival gates. The airport's own limousines use Gates 2 and 3, and ride-hailing pickups are through Gate 3.
We track your flight, so delays move the pickup at no extra cost, and your 60 minutes of free waiting start when you actually land. For the return, your driver collects you from your West Bay lobby and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time.

Where we drop off in West Bay
West Bay, also called Al Dafna, is Doha’s business and diplomatic district: a grid of towers north of the Corniche with hotels, embassies, offices and the City Center Doha mall. Every tower has its own drop-off driveway, and the car takes you to the door. Send us the building name with your booking, as many towers look alike from the road.
Corniche hotels
Hotels facing the bay along the West Bay end of the Corniche, from the Sheraton Grand at the tip to the towers beside it, with views back to the old city.
City Center Doha and the tower grid
The mall, the hotels around it and the office towers of the grid, the core of the business district. Tell us the tower name and which entrance you need.
DECC and the exhibition district
The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center and the hotels near it, used for trade fairs and conferences. Drop-off at the visitor entrance, or at your hotel first.
Katara Cultural Village
The cultural village with its amphitheatre, galleries and beach, just north of the towers. About 24 km from the airport, a few minutes beyond West Bay.
The Pearl
The man-made island north of West Bay, with marina apartments, shops and hotels around Porto Arabia. About 28 km and 35 minutes from the airport.

When to book your Doha West Bay transfer
Doha's comfortable season runs from about October to April. January's average high is around 22°C, while June to August averages above 40°C, when even a short walk between station and hotel is hard work.
Two big dates fall in the coming season. The Qatar Grand Prix runs at Lusail International Circuit, north of the city, from 27 to 29 November 2026, and hotels across Doha fill for it. Qatar National Day on 18 December brings celebrations along the waterfront and road closures near the Corniche, so allow extra time if you land around then.
Ramadan in 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March, with the dates set by moon sighting. During the fast, do not eat, drink or smoke in public in daylight, including in a car. Traffic peaks in the hour before sunset as people head home to break the fast, so a midday or late-evening landing is usually quickest.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Doha West Bay
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 25–45 min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Doha Metro Red Line | 35–50 minutes door to door | From the airport station to West Bay QatarEnergy or DECC, eight and nine stops up the Red Line. Air-conditioned and frequent, but you finish the trip on foot or by taxi with your bags. |
| Karwa taxi | 25–45 minutes | Turquoise metered taxis from the Taxi Pavilion at the left end of the arrivals hall, with sedans, vans and card payment. You queue at the pavilion rather than being met inside. |
| Ride-hailing apps | 25–45 minutes | Uber, Badrgo and Ryde collect from a designated point in the multi-level car park, reached through Gate 3 and across the service road. Prices change with demand. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Doha West Bay transfer suits
Business travellers
West Bay is Doha’s business and diplomatic district. Go straight from arrivals to a meeting with your luggage kept in the car, then on to the hotel, as one booking.
Stopover visitors
On a one- or two-night stopover between flights, time is short. A car gets you from the arrivals hall to the Corniche in about 25 minutes, and back again.
Families
Child seats fitted before pickup, and a minivan for up to seven people and six or seven suitcases, at one price for the vehicle rather than per seat.
Grand Prix and conference visitors
Arriving for the Qatar Grand Prix or an event at DECC? Book early, and add the circuit or venue as a stop. We can quote your other rides in Doha too.
Plan the rest of your Doha stay
- Leave vapes and e-cigarettes at home. They are illegal in Qatar, and customs officers can confiscate them from your luggage on arrival.
- UK government advice is to cover shoulders and knees in public, including in malls and the souq. The dress code is enforced most strictly in government buildings, banks and hospitals.
- Souq Waqif and the Museum of Islamic Art are about ten minutes back along the Corniche from West Bay. The souq is at its liveliest in the evening, once the heat of the day has gone.
- For sightseeing once your bags are at the hotel, the Red Line runs north from West Bay to Katara and Lusail and south to Msheireb, where it meets the Green and Gold lines.
- Combining Doha with the Emirates? We also run transfers from Dubai International and from Abu Dhabi Airport to Saadiyat Island, so the whole trip can be booked in one place.
- For your flight home, leave West Bay about three hours before departure, and add half an hour on weekday afternoons, when the Corniche is at its slowest.
