Private transfer from Denver Airport to Vail
Vail is one of the biggest ski areas in North America, with more than 5,300 acres of terrain including the famous Back Bowls. It is 194 km from Denver International Airport along Interstate 70, a mountain drive that climbs through the Eisenhower–Johnson Memorial Tunnel at over 11,000 feet and then over Vail Pass.
In winter, that is a road for experienced mountain drivers in the right vehicles. A private transfer gives you both, with space for everyone's ski gear and a fixed price for the whole vehicle, so you can rest after your flight instead of watching the road.

The drive from DEN to Vail
From the airport, your driver takes Peña Boulevard and either I-70 through Denver or the toll roads around it, then heads west on I-70 into the foothills. The interstate climbs past Idaho Springs and Georgetown to the Eisenhower–Johnson Memorial Tunnel under the Continental Divide, drops into Summit County at Silverthorne and Frisco, then climbs again over Vail Pass (10,662 feet) before descending into the Vail Valley.
In good conditions the drive takes 2 to 2½ hours. Snowstorms, accidents and weekend ski traffic can add an hour or more, especially eastbound on Sunday afternoons. Colorado's traction law applies on I-70 in winter, and our vehicles are 4WD or AWD with suitable tyres.
Meeting your driver at Denver Airport
All flights at DEN arrive at Concourse A, B or C, which connect to the main Jeppesen Terminal by an underground train. Take the train to the terminal, then collect your bags in baggage claim on Level 5. Your driver waits there with a sign showing your name and walks you to the vehicle.

Where we drop off in Vail
Vail Village and Lionshead are largely pedestrian, but every hotel and condo building has a drop-off point. Give us your address and we'll take you there.
Vail Village
The Tyrolean-style heart of the resort next to Gondola One, with Vail's best-known hotels, restaurants and shops.
Lionshead
The western base village, home of the Eagle Bahn Gondola, with family-friendly hotels and condos.
Cascade Village and West Vail
Quieter areas west of Lionshead, with condos and their own lift access at Cascade.
East Vail and Beaver Creek
Private homes in East Vail, and the Beaver Creek resort about 15 minutes further west. We drive to both.
When to book your Vail transfer
Vail's ski season usually runs from mid-November to mid-April, with the biggest crowds over Christmas, New Year, Presidents' Day weekend and spring break in March. Weekend traffic on I-70 is heaviest westbound on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and eastbound on Sunday afternoons.
In summer, Vail is a hiking, biking and golf destination, and the drive over Vail Pass is quicker and just as beautiful.

Local tips for your Vail transfer
- Drink plenty of water on the way up. Vail sits at 8,150 feet, and altitude hits many visitors on the first day.
- Stocking a condo? Silverthorne and Frisco have big supermarkets with lower prices than the resort, and we can stop on the way.
- Flying home on a Sunday in ski season? Leave Vail at least five hours before your flight; eastbound I-70 is slowest on Sunday afternoons.
