Denver International Airport is the gateway to Colorado's biggest ski resorts, and the I-70 mountain corridor is the road that connects them. It climbs through the Eisenhower–Johnson Memorial Tunnel at over 11,000 feet and, for Vail, over Vail Pass. In winter that is a drive for experienced mountain drivers in the right vehicles.

Arriving at Denver Airport: where to meet your driver
All flights at DEN arrive at Concourse A, B or C, which connect to the main Jeppesen Terminal by an underground train. Take the train to the terminal, then collect your bags in baggage claim on Level 5. Your driver waits there with a sign showing your name and walks you to the vehicle.
Mountain driving: I-70, the traction law and altitude
Colorado's traction law applies on I-70 in the mountains from September 1 to May 31, requiring adequate tyres or 4WD. Weekend and storm traffic can double journey times, so we build time into our recommended return pickups.
Vail sits at about 8,150 feet (2,480 m). Drink plenty of water on the way up: altitude affects many visitors on the first day, and your driver can stop if anyone feels unwell.

Times are for normal conditions. Heavy snow and Sunday afternoon traffic eastbound can add an hour or more.
