Larnaca to Limassol by private car
Most international flights to Cyprus land at Larnaca, but many visitors are heading for Limassol, the island's second city and its largest port. A private Larnaca to Limassol transfer covers the 67 km in about an hour. Your driver meets you in arrivals at Larnaca Airport and takes the A5 and A1 motorways straight to your hotel, office or apartment.
Cyprus has no railway, so the public options are coaches. The Limassol Airport Express runs direct to two stops in the city, which works well if your hotel is close to one of them. A car makes more sense for an early meeting, a late flight, a family with luggage, or anyone staying at the marina, in the business district or at the resorts towards Amathus, away from the coach stops.
The price is fixed for the whole car, so colleagues or a family travelling together share one fare. Going to the east coast instead? See Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa.

The drive from LCA to Limassol
From the terminal your driver takes the A3 for a few kilometres to the Kalo Chorio junction, then joins the A5, the 19 km motorway that links Larnaca with Limassol. It runs west, parallel to the old B5 road, to the Kofinou interchange, where it meets the A1 from Nicosia. From there it is about 35 km on the A1 along the south coast.
The A1 passes Choirokoitia, a Neolithic settlement on UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1998, then the turn-offs for Zygi and Governor's Beach, with the sea on your left. Further on, the ruins of Amathus, an ancient city-kingdom founded around 1100 BC, lie by the shore at the eastern edge of the Limassol hotel strip.
Limassol has several motorway junctions, from Germasogeia in the east through Linopetra and Agios Athanasios to Polemidia in the west, and your driver leaves at the one closest to your address. The last few kilometres to the Old Port, the marina or the city centre are on city streets.
Cyprus drives on the left, which is one reason many business visitors skip the hire car, and fuel and parking are part of the fixed price. The drive takes about 60 minutes from the terminal to the marina in normal traffic. Limassol's junctions are the slow part: on weekday mornings and evenings, and on summer weekends when beach traffic builds on the coast road, allow up to 80 minutes. Night arrivals are usually quickest.

Where we drop off in Limassol
Limassol stretches a long way along the coast, from the New Port and City of Dreams in the west to the resort hotels at Amathus in the east. Every address is door to door. The old town round the castle has narrow lanes, so for a few addresses there the driver stops at the nearest point the car can reach, usually a minute or two on foot.
Limassol Marina and the Old Port
The marina was built on the Old Port, 500 m west of the medieval castle, with apartments, restaurants and berths for ocean-going yachts. Drop-off at the entrance or your building.
Old town, Molos and Anexartisias Street
The historic centre round Limassol Castle, the one-kilometre Molos seafront park and Anexartisias, the main shopping street. Small hotels and apartments sit in the lanes behind.
Seafront business district
Offices and residential towers along the seafront, including One Limassol, the tallest tower in Cyprus. Tell us the building and company name, and the driver heads for the right entrance.
Germasogeia, Agios Tychonas and Amathus
The hotel strip that runs east from the Germasogeia tourist area towards the Amathus ruins. These resorts are the first stops off the A1, so the trip is a few minutes shorter.
City of Dreams and the New Port
West of the centre: the City of Dreams Mediterranean resort and casino, and the Port of Limassol, where cruise ships call. Both are about 73 km from the airport.

When to book your Limassol transfer
Limassol is busy all year. It is a working city with a port and a large international business community, so weekday rush hours matter as much as the holiday calendar. If you land between about 7 and 9 in the morning or 5 and 7 in the evening and are heading into town, allow the extra 20 minutes.
The Limassol Carnival is the city's biggest event: ten days of masked parades and parties before the start of Orthodox Lent. In 2027 it builds up to Green Monday on 15 March, with the Grand Parade along Makariou Avenue on the Sunday before. Central roads close for the parades and hotels fill early, so book your car and room well ahead.
From June to September, beach traffic adds time on the coast road and at the eastern junctions at weekends, while late-evening arrivals have the motorway almost to themselves. Cruise ships call at the Port of Limassol through the year. If you are joining one, plan to reach the port well before boarding closes.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Limassol
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 1h – 1h 20min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Limassol Airport Express | 1¼–1½ hours + taxi | Direct coaches from Larnaca Airport, timed to flights, to two stops in Limassol: Agios Georgios Havouzas station and the tourist area opposite the St Raphael hotel. You finish the trip by taxi. |
| Local bus + Intercity coach | 1½–2½ hours | A local bus from the airport into Larnaca, then an Intercity coach to Limassol. Cyprus has no railway, so this is the only fully public route, with a change in town and your luggage. |
| Airport taxi | 60–80 minutes | From the rank on the right outside the arrivals hall, 24 hours a day. You queue with everyone from your flight and pay a metered fare, with no price agreed before you set off. |
| Rental car | 1–1¼ hours plus pick-up | Easy motorway driving, on the left. Parking in central Limassol and at the marina is limited, so check with your hotel or office before you collect a car. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Limassol transfer suits
Business travellers
Straight from arrivals to an office in the seafront business district or a meeting at a city hotel, with a fixed price agreed in advance and your driver’s details sent before you fly.
Families relocating or visiting
Limassol has a large international community. A minivan carries up to seven people with a week’s luggage, and child seats are fitted before pickup when you tell us the ages.
Cruise passengers
Ships call at the Port of Limassol. A car from the airport to the port, or to a hotel the night before sailing, saves juggling coaches and taxis with cruise luggage.
Resort guests at Amathus
The large resort hotels east of the city are well away from the coach stops. The car goes to reception, and the trip is a few minutes shorter than into the centre.
Plan the rest of your Limassol stay
- Walk the Molos, the one-kilometre seafront park by the Old Port, in the early evening. It links the castle, the marina and the old town restaurants.
- Limassol Castle, where Richard the Lionheart is believed to have married Berengaria of Navarre in 1191, now houses a medieval museum a short walk from the marina.
- The Greco-Roman theatre at Kourion, about 19 km west of the city, still hosts open-air performances above the sea. We can quote a return trip from your hotel with waiting time.
- Moving on to the east coast for a beach week? We quote hotel-to-hotel rides to the resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras, and anywhere else in the south of the island.
- Some flights to Cyprus use Paphos Airport, west of Limassol, rather than Larnaca. Check which airport your return flight leaves from before you book the trip home.
- For a flight home from Larnaca, leave Limassol about three and a half hours before departure: up to 80 minutes on the road at busy times, plus two hours at the airport.
