Winter driving on the Sea-to-Sky
British Columbia requires winter tyres or chains on Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler from October 1 to April 30. Snow and ice are most likely on the stretch north of Squamish, and the highway can close briefly for accidents or avalanche control. Professional drivers with mountain experience and the right tyres are the safest way to make the trip after a long flight.
When to travel
Whistler's ski season runs from late November to April, with the busiest weeks over Christmas, the New Year and February. Summer brings the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, hiking and events, and the drive is at its most beautiful. Canada is a year-round destination for our transfers.
