Private transfers across Peru

Most trips to Peru follow the same line: an international flight into Lima Airport, a night or two on the coast, then a short flight up to Cusco Airport for the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Each arrival has its own challenge. Lima is a huge, congested city where the UK Foreign Office warns about fake taxi drivers at the airport; Cusco is 3,399 m up, and the valley hotels are an hour or more away by mountain road.

We cover both ends. Our Lima Airport to Miraflores transfer takes you from the new Jorge Chávez terminal to your hotel in Miraflores, Barranco or San Isidro. Our Cusco to Sacred Valley transfer runs from Cusco arrivals to Urubamba, Pisac or Ollantaytambo station. Each is one fixed price for the whole car, with a named driver waiting for you.

Altitude

Cusco stands at 3,399 m, and the Sacred Valley at about 2,790 to 2,970 m. TravelHealthPro, the UK's official travel health service, says altitude illness usually occurs above 2,500 m and lists the rate of ascent, sleeping altitude and exertion on arrival among its risk factors. It does not recommend coca for preventing altitude illness, and the US State Department advises American travellers not to use coca products. Speak to your doctor before you travel.

Roads and safety on the move

The UK Foreign Office describes driving standards in Peru as poor and advises avoiding overnight road travel, especially in the mountains. In Lima it advises keeping car doors locked and windows shut, as criminals target cars stopped at traffic lights, and using the official taxi companies at the airport rather than drivers who approach you. Protests can block roads and occasionally suspend trains to Machu Picchu, often without notice.

Peru drives on the right. Your driver knows the local roads, and we track your flight so the pickup moves with any delay.

When to travel

The UK Foreign Office says the rainy season runs from November to May, with heavy rain in the Andes, including Cusco, so the main season for the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu is April to October. Lima is a year-round city: sunny in the summer months from December to April, often grey from June to November. The UK Foreign Office also warns of an El Niño event expected from late 2026 to April 2027, which could bring heavy rain and road closures on the coast.
