Private transfers across Argentina

Almost every international trip to Argentina starts at Buenos Aires Ezeiza, which handles most of the country's international flights. The airport is 22 km south-west of the capital, there is no train, and the hotels most visitors book, in Recoleta, Palermo, Puerto Madero and San Telmo, are 30 to 35 km away by motorway.

Our Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires transfer takes you from the arrivals hall to your hotel or apartment door in about 40 minutes, longer at rush hour, at one fixed price for the whole car with motorway tolls included. We also quote the northern suburbs, Tigre and La Plata, and connections to Aeroparque and the Buquebus ferry terminal.

Flying on to Peru? Our Lima Airport to Miraflores transfer works the same way.

Two airports in Buenos Aires

Ezeiza handles nearly all international flights. Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, on the river by Palermo, mainly serves domestic and regional routes, including many flights to Iguazú, Bariloche, Mendoza and Patagonia, although some domestic flights use Ezeiza too. Check which airport your ticket shows. The drive between the two is about 38 km, and we quote it as a transfer.

Roads and taxis

Argentina drives on the right. The UK Foreign Office advises keeping car windows closed and doors locked when driving in major cities, booking taxis in advance where possible, and using only radio taxis if you hail one in the street. It also notes that demonstrations sometimes block major routes into and out of Buenos Aires, causing long delays.

UK visitors who want to drive themselves need the 1949 international driving permit as well as their licence, according to the UK Foreign Office. In the capital, a car with a local driver is usually the simpler choice.

When to travel

Seasons are the reverse of Europe's. Buenos Aires is most pleasant from October to April: mild in spring and autumn, hot and humid from December to February. In January many residents leave for the coast and the city is quieter. Carnival Monday and Tuesday are national holidays, on 8 and 9 February 2027, and long weekends bring heavy traffic in and out of the city.
