Almost every holiday in Jamaica starts at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The island's best-known beaches lie on either side of it: Negril and Seven Mile Beach about an hour and a half to the west, and Ocho Rios around the same distance to the east along the north coast.

Driving in Jamaica
Jamaica drives on the left. The North Coast Highway (A1 and A3) links Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios and is paved and well used, but passes through many small towns, so journey times depend on traffic more than distance. When to go
Winter, from mid-December to mid-April, is peak season, with dry weather and the highest hotel rates. The hurricane season runs from June to November. Late spring and early summer are warm and quieter, with good resort availability.
