The drive from MBJ to Negril
From the airport, your driver heads west on the North Coast Highway (the A1) through Montego Bay's outskirts, then along the coast through Hopewell, Sandy Bay and Lucea, before turning south via Green Island into Negril. Jamaica drives on the left. Most of the route is a two-lane highway through small towns, with the sea in view much of the way.
Allow 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. The main variable is traffic in the towns, especially around school times and market days. Many guests like to stop for a cold drink or jerk chicken on the way; just let us know.

The long white-sand beach along Norman Manley Boulevard, lined with resorts, guesthouses and beach bars. Most hotels are 1 hour 30–40 minutes from the airport.
Bloody Bay
The quieter bay at the northern end, with larger all-inclusive resorts, reached a few minutes before Seven Mile Beach.
West End cliffs
Boutique hotels and villas on the limestone cliffs south of the centre, home to Rick's Café and the cliff-jumping spots. Add about 10 minutes.
Negril town
The small centre between the beach and the cliffs, with the craft market and shops.
When to book your Negril transfer
Negril's high season runs from mid-December to mid-April, with dry weather and the highest hotel rates; Christmas, New Year and Easter are the busiest weeks. The hurricane season runs from June to November. Late spring and summer are warm, green and quieter, with good availability.

Local tips for your Negril transfer
