Your Miami Airport to Miami Beach transfer, door to door
Miami Beach is a barrier island across Biscayne Bay from the city, and the trip from Miami Airport to Miami Beach is short: about 19 km (12 miles) to South Beach, roughly 25 minutes when the roads are clear. Your driver meets you at Miami International Airport, takes the expressway east and crosses the bay on a causeway to your hotel door.
There is a direct bus, the Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express, and for one traveller with a small bag it is the lowest-cost way across. It runs every 30 minutes and stops all along the beach, so it is slower, and you start with a ride on the MIA Mover to reach it.
A private car is quicker and easier with a family, a pile of beach luggage, golf clubs or a late landing. Because the price is for the whole vehicle, four people pay the same as two. Joining a cruise after your beach stay? See our Miami Airport to PortMiami transfer.

The drive from MIA to Miami Beach
Your driver leaves the airport on one of two toll expressways, depending on where on the beach you are staying.
For South Beach, the usual route is east on the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) to I-395 at the edge of Downtown Miami, then over the MacArthur Causeway. The causeway crosses Biscayne Bay past Watson Island, with the cruise ships at PortMiami on your right and the mansions of Star Island on your left, and lands at 5th Street, a few blocks from Ocean Drive. That is the line on the diagram: about 19 km to Lincoln Road.
For Mid-Beach and the big resort hotels around 41st Street, the Airport Expressway (SR 112) and the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) are more direct, about 18 km, and land at 41st Street. For Surfside and Bal Harbour, I-95 north and the Broad Causeway are often quicker.
The Dolphin and Airport expressways are cashless toll roads, and their tolls are included in your price, along with any causeway toll.
In light traffic, most beach hotels are 20 to 30 minutes from the terminal. Weekday afternoons from about 16:00, Friday and Saturday nights, and big event weeks slow both the expressways and the beach streets, and then the drive can take 45 to 50 minutes. Your driver checks traffic as you land and picks the causeway that is moving.
Late at night the roads are quiet and well lit all the way, and the drive is often under 25 minutes.

Where we drop off in Miami Beach
We drive to any hotel, apartment or villa on Miami Beach and the islands around it. Tell us the property and the entrance: many hotels on Collins Avenue have a valet drive or a side-street door where a car can stop, and some bay-side homes sit behind guarded gates, where the driver needs your name for the guard.
South Beach and the Art Deco District
Hotels on Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue. Where Ocean Drive is busy or closed to cars, the driver stops at the hotel’s side-street or Collins Avenue entrance.
South of Fifth
The quieter southern tip around South Pointe Park, with apartment towers and restaurants. It is the first part of the beach you reach off the MacArthur Causeway.
Mid-Beach
The large resort hotels from around 41st Street north along Collins Avenue, including the Fontainebleau. Reached directly over the Julia Tuttle Causeway.
North Beach, Surfside and Bal Harbour
Quieter beaches, condo towers and the Bal Harbour Shops further north. About 27 km from the airport, so allow 35 minutes to an hour.
Fisher Island and Star Island
Fisher Island is reached only by ferry, so we drop you at its ferry terminal off the MacArthur Causeway. Star Island has a guarded entrance; share the full address.

When to book your Miami Beach transfer
Miami Beach's high season runs from November to April, when the weather is dry and warm and both hotel occupancy and traffic peak. Art Basel Miami Beach is at the Convention Center from 4 to 6 December 2026, and the satellite fairs of Miami Art Week fill hotels and slow Collins Avenue for the whole week around it. Christmas, New Year and spring break in March are just as busy, so book early and allow extra time for departures.
Summer is hot and humid, with short, heavy afternoon thunderstorms on many days. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and when a storm threatens, flights and roads can change quickly. We track your flight, so the pickup moves with any delay at no extra cost.
Friday and Saturday nights bring heavy traffic onto the causeways and South Beach streets. If you have the choice, a weekday arrival between late morning and mid-afternoon usually gives the quickest drive.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Miami Beach
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 25–50 min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express | About 1 hour + MIA Mover | Take the MIA Mover to the Metrorail station, then the express bus every 30 minutes from 6:00 to 23:40, stopping along the beach from 41st Street to South Pointe. Luggage racks on board, then a walk to your hotel. |
| Taxi from the rank | 25–50 minutes | Stands on the Level 1 kerb outside baggage claim, with uniformed airport staff. Quick, but you queue at the stand, an SUV or van costs extra, and a large family may need two cabs. |
| Ride apps | 25–50 minutes | Pickup zones on the arrivals and departures levels, at numbered doors shown in the app. Prices rise with demand, and a vehicle big enough for a family’s luggage costs more again. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Miami Beach transfer suits
Families
Car seats fitted before pickup, and room for strollers, beach bags and suitcases in one vehicle. A minivan takes up to seven people for one price.
Couples and honeymooners
Straight from baggage claim to the hotel valet, with the bay views from the causeway on the way. Add a stop for wine or groceries if you have an apartment.
Art Basel and event visitors
During Miami Art Week the taxi queues are long and app prices climb. A booked car meets you inside, and can drop you at the Convention Center first.
Pre- and post-cruise stays
Many cruise passengers spend a night or two on the beach. PortMiami is about 12 km from South Beach, 15 to 25 minutes, and we quote that leg too.
Plan the rest of your Miami Beach stay
- Hotel check-in on Miami Beach is usually mid-afternoon. Landing in the morning? Ask your hotel to hold your bags and walk to Lincoln Road or the beach for breakfast.
- Book dinner for your first night before you fly in high season. Popular restaurants in South Beach and Mid-Beach fill up on Friday and Saturday nights from December to April.
- Staying in an apartment? Add a grocery stop to your quote. Your driver waits outside while you shop, and the luggage stays locked in the car.
- Pack sun protection in your hand luggage, even in winter. The Florida sun is strong from your first afternoon on the beach, long before the suitcase is unpacked.
- For your flight home from MIA, leave Miami Beach about three hours before an international departure and two and a half before a domestic one. Add time on weekday afternoons and in Art Basel week.
- New York before or after Miami? Our JFK to Manhattan car service works the same way: one fixed price, tolls included, and a driver waiting when you land.
