The drive from HKT to Patong
From the airport, your driver heads south on Thepkrasattri Road, the island's main north–south route, then turns west near Kathu for the climb over Patong Hill. The road over the hill is steep and winding, with a viewpoint over Patong Bay at the top, before it drops down into town.
The drive takes 45 minutes to an hour. The slowest parts are the busy middle of the island around Central Phuket, and Patong itself in the evening.

When to book your Patong transfer
Phuket's high season runs from November to April, when the Andaman Sea is calm and the weather dry, with December and January the busiest months. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings rain and rougher seas, but also lower prices and quieter beaches.
