Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Naama Bay in 20 minutes

The drive from Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Naama Bay is one of the shortest airport transfers on the Red Sea: 15 km down Peace Road, about 20 minutes in normal traffic. Your driver meets you as you walk out of arrivals at Sharm El Sheikh Airport, loads the cases and takes you to your hotel entrance, or to the nearest road if you are staying in the pedestrian centre.

Naama Bay is the centre of Sharm’s resort life, with beachfront hotels, a promenade and car-free streets of restaurants, cafés and shops behind it. Taxis wait at the airport, but you settle the fare at the kerb after a long flight. A pre-booked car has its price fixed before you travel, for the whole vehicle, so four people pay the same as two.

It is a short ride, but it is the first half hour of your holiday. Adding Cairo to the trip? See our Cairo Airport to Giza transfer. Exploring the mainland coast too? Try Hurghada to El Gouna.

The drive from SSH to Naama Bay

From the terminal your driver joins Peace Road (Al Salam Road), the main road that runs south-west from the airport and links every resort area in Sharm El Sheikh. It is the only road you need: Naama Bay is about 15 km along it.

The first stretch passes the turnings for Sharks Bay and Soho Square. Next comes the International Congress Centre, where many of Sharm's large international meetings are held, with the Peace Park botanical garden beside it. A few kilometres on, the Sharm El Sheikh Museum stands by the road, and the hotels thicken as you drop down towards the bay. Solar-powered lampposts line the road.

In normal traffic the drive takes about 20 minutes. Allow up to half an hour at busy times, and a little longer for hotels at the far end of the bay. Fuel, parking and waiting time are included in your fixed price.

Security is heavy across Egypt, with extra measures at tourist sites, and police check ID regularly. Keep your passport, or a copy of it with your entry stamp, with you in the car.

The centre of Naama Bay is pedestrian, around King of Bahrain Street, Sultan Qaboos Street and the beach promenade. Your driver stops at your hotel's vehicle entrance or, for apartments and small hotels inside the car-free zone, at the nearest road. Going further? Hadaba and the Old Market are another 5–10 minutes further south.

Meeting your driver at Sharm El Sheikh Airport

Sharm El Sheikh Airport has two terminals. Most international flights use Terminal 1; Terminal 2, the older building, handles mainly domestic flights. UK passport holders staying only in the Sinai resorts for under 15 days receive a free entry stamp; others buy a visa before passport control or arrive with an e-visa. Walk out through the arrivals exit, where your driver waits holding a sign with your name.

Sharm El Sheikh Airport has two terminals. Most international flights use Terminal 1, opened in 2007; Terminal 2, the older building, handles mainly domestic flights. UK passport holders staying under 15 days only in Sharm, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba receive a free Sinai-only entry stamp instead of a visa.

Your driver waits as you walk out of the arrivals exit, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight, so the pickup moves with any delay at no extra cost, and your 60 minutes of free waiting start when you actually land.

For the trip home, your driver collects you from your hotel and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time.

Where we drop off in Naama Bay and around Sharm

Naama Bay is compact: hotels line the beach, and the streets behind them form a pedestrian zone of restaurants, cafés and shops. We drop at hotel entrances, and at the nearest road for places inside the car-free area. Every other resort area in Sharm El Sheikh is on the same terms, all reached from Peace Road.

Naama Bay beachfront

Hotels facing the bay and its promenade. Your driver pulls up at the hotel’s vehicle entrance, usually a few steps from reception.

King of Bahrain Street

The car-free heart of Naama Bay. For apartments and small hotels inside it, the car stops at the nearest road, a short walk away. Send us a map pin.

Sharks Bay and Soho Square

The closest resort area to the airport, about 10–15 minutes away, with the Soho Square entertainment complex. Door to door to every hotel.

Nabq Bay

Large resorts north of the airport, about 15–20 minutes away, beside the Nabq protected area, with door-to-door drop-offs.

Hadaba and the Old Market

South of Naama Bay, 20–30 minutes from the airport: the Old Market (Sharm El Maya) and the clifftop hotels of Hadaba and Ras Um Sid.

When to book your Naama Bay transfer

Sharm El Sheikh has sunshine all year. Typical January days run from about 18°C to 23°C, while August reaches 33–37°C, and the Red Sea stays between 21°C and 28°C. The cooler months from October to April are the most comfortable for walking around Naama Bay in the daytime; summer is hot, but the water is at its warmest for snorkelling.

European school holidays at Christmas, in February half-term and around Easter (28 March 2027) are popular weeks to travel, so book your transfer early for those dates.

Ramadan is expected to run from about 8 February to 8 March 2027, depending on the moon. Driving can be erratic around dusk, when people head home to break the fast, so allow a few extra minutes for an evening arrival.

Vehicles, prices and what's included

You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.

Who the Naama Bay transfer suits

Divers and snorkellers

Dive bags and camera cases ride in the boot, not on your lap. Land, rest, and save Ras Mohammed and the Straits of Tiran for the days after.

Families

Child seats fitted before you land, and one price for the car rather than per person. A minivan carries up to seven with suitcases, buggies and beach bags.

Conference delegates

Many international meetings take place at the Congress Centre on Peace Road. We drop you at your hotel or at the venue itself, and quote the return trip too.

Late arrivals

Landing in the middle of the night? Your driver is waiting whatever the hour, and Naama Bay is about 20 minutes away, so you can be in bed soon after passport control.

Plan the rest of your Sharm El Sheikh stay

  • Staying only in Sharm, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba for under 15 days on a UK passport? The free Sinai-only stamp covers you. Travelling anywhere else in Egypt needs a full visa, so get an e-visa before you fly.
  • If you land late, keep the next morning free and save your first boat trip to Ras Mohammed or the Straits of Tiran for the day after.
  • Ras Mohammed National Park, at the southern tip of Sinai, is about half an hour by road from the airport. We quote day trips with the waiting time included.
  • Carry your passport, or a copy with your entry stamp, when you leave the hotel. Egyptian police check ID regularly, and the UK government advises keeping copies separate from the originals.
  • Adding the pyramids? Fly to Cairo International and your driver meets you for the drive to Giza. You will need a full visa rather than the Sinai-only stamp.
  • Moving on to Dahab, about 1¼ hours north by road, or to another hotel in Sharm? We quote hotel-to-hotel transfers in South Sinai’s resorts and across Egypt.
  • For your flight home, leave Naama Bay about three hours before an international departure. The drive is short, but allow for security checks and check-in queues at the terminal.

Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Naama Bay: your questions

How long is the drive from Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Naama Bay?

About 20 minutes for the 15 km along Peace Road in normal traffic, and up to half an hour at busy times. Hotels at the southern end of the bay take a few minutes longer. Sharks Bay and Soho Square are closer, at about 10–15 minutes, and the Old Market area is 20–30 minutes from the terminal.

How much does a private transfer to Naama Bay cost?

You pay one fixed price for the whole vehicle, not per person, so it costs the same for a family of five as for a couple. The price depends on the vehicle size, the date and time, and any stops. Fuel, parking, flight tracking and waiting time are included. Enter your trip above and we email your price within 24 hours.

Is an airport taxi a better option?

Taxis wait outside the terminal and take the same 20 minutes. The difference is that you agree the fare at the kerb on arrival, the car may be small for several cases, and nobody is tracking your flight. A pre-booked car has its price fixed in advance, a driver waiting with your name and room for the luggage you told us about.

Can the car drive into Naama Bay’s pedestrian area?

No. The streets around King of Bahrain Street, Sultan Qaboos Street and the beach promenade are for pedestrians. Your driver stops at your hotel’s vehicle entrance or, for apartments and small hotels inside the car-free zone, at the nearest road, a short walk away. Send us a map pin if your building is hard to find.

What happens if my flight to Sharm El Sheikh is delayed?

Add your flight number when you book and we track it, so the pickup moves with any delay at no extra cost. Your 60 minutes of free waiting start when you actually land. If the delay runs past three hours or the flight is diverted, message us on WhatsApp: under our policy that can need a new booking, and we will help rearrange it.

Do I need a visa to stay in Naama Bay?

Not if you hold a UK passport, fly into Sharm El Sheikh and stay under 15 days only in the resorts of Sharm, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba: you get a free Sinai-only entry stamp on arrival. For longer stays or trips elsewhere in Egypt, you need a visa. Other nationalities should check the rules for their passport before travelling.

Can you take us to Ras Mohammed or Dahab as well?

Yes. The entrance gate to Ras Mohammed National Park is about 25–35 minutes from the airport, and Dahab about 1¼–1½ hours. We quote one-way transfers and day trips with waiting time included; add the stops to your quote request. If you are on the Sinai-only stamp, check that it covers where you plan to go.
