Punta Cana airport to Cap Cana in one short ride
Cap Cana is the private, master-planned resort community just south of Punta Cana's airport, with a marina, Juanillo Beach, two Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses and some of the Dominican Republic's most exclusive hotels. A private Punta Cana airport to Cap Cana transfer covers the 11 km to the marina in about 15 to 20 minutes, and the furthest resorts in about 25.
Your driver meets you outside arrivals at Punta Cana International Airport and drives straight through Cap Cana's entrance to your hotel or villa. On a trip this short, the point is not the road. It is skipping the shared shuttle, which waits for other passengers and stops at other resorts, and having one fixed price for the whole vehicle, agreed before you fly.

The drive from PUJ to Cap Cana
Punta Cana's airport has two international terminals, A and B, side by side. From the terminal road your driver heads south on Avenida Ted Kheel, past Puntacana Village. Both terminals share the same exit road, so the route is identical whichever one you land at.
After about 7 km you reach the Cap Cana entrance, where the private community begins. From there Cap Cana's own boulevards fan out: south-east to the marina, south along Juanillo Beach to the clifftop resorts, and south-west to the Punta Espada and Las Iguanas golf areas and Scape Park.
The drive takes about 15 minutes to the marina, 15 to 20 to the Juanillo Beach resorts, and 20 to 25 to Scape Park and the western villas. Cap Cana describes itself as 10 minutes from the airport, which is about right for the properties nearest the entrance, such as Eden Roc. Traffic around the airport roundabouts can add a few minutes at busy times.
There are no long stretches of open highway on this route, and no ferry or mountain road to time, so night arrivals are as simple as daytime ones. Your driver takes you to the lobby whatever the hour, and the price is the same.
Inside Cap Cana, the hotels, the marina and the beaches are spread out. If you are meeting friends at another resort, or want a dinner run to the marina later in your stay, we can quote that too.

Meeting your driver at Punta Cana Airport
Punta Cana's open-air terminals, with their palm-thatched roofs, make arrivals feel like a resort from the start. After immigration, collect your bags, clear customs and follow the signs to the exit. Tour operator reps and shuttle companies wait in the arrivals area outside the building; your private driver waits with them, holding a sign with your name.
Before you travel, fill in the Dominican Republic's electronic entry and exit form (E-Ticket). You'll be asked for the QR code at immigration.
Punta Cana's airport is privately owned and known for its open-air terminals with palm-frond roofs. International flights use Terminal A, the older open-air building where you leave the aircraft by stairs, or Terminal B, which is enclosed and has jet bridges. We check which one you are using. After immigration and customs, follow the signs to the exit: tour operator reps and drivers wait outside the arrivals area, and yours holds a sign with your name.
Add your flight number and we track it: if you land late, the pickup moves with the flight at no extra cost, and your 60 minutes of free waiting start from the actual landing time.
For the trip home, your driver collects you from your lobby or villa and waits up to 15 minutes from the agreed time.

Where we drop off in Cap Cana
Cap Cana is large, and its resorts are spread between the marina, the beach and the golf courses. Every address inside is door to door, but several hotels belong to brands with sister resorts close by, so give us the exact hotel name, or for a villa the community name and a map pin.
Marina Cap Cana
The harbour, its oceanfront restaurants and marina hotels such as TAN and Casa Don Luis, home port of the sportfishing fleet. About 11 km and 15 minutes from the airport.
Juanillo Beach
The white-sand beach south of the marina, with Secrets Cap Cana facing it and the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara close by. About 15 to 20 minutes from the terminals.
Sanctuary and the southern cliffs
Sanctuary Cap Cana sits on the clifftops at the southern end of the resort strip, about 13 km from the airport and some 20 minutes away.
Eden Roc and the entrance area
Eden Roc Cap Cana and its villas are among the properties closest to the entrance, about 10 to 15 minutes from the terminals.
Golf communities and Scape Park
Villas around the Punta Espada and Las Iguanas courses, and the Scape Park adventure park in the west of Cap Cana, about 20 to 25 minutes from the airport.

When to book your Cap Cana transfer
Cap Cana's high season runs from December to April, the winter months when most visitors come. Christmas, New Year and Easter (28 March 2027) are the busiest weeks at the airport and the resorts, so book your car early for those dates.
The marina hosts sportfishing tournaments during the year. If your stay coincides with one, marina hotels and restaurants are at their busiest, and it is worth booking dinner ahead.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. Storms do not reach the island every year, but if one disrupts your flight, message us on WhatsApp: the pickup moves with the flight, and under our policy a landing at a different airport needs a new booking.
Before you fly, complete the Dominican Republic's electronic entry and exit form, the E-Ticket. You can fill it in up to seven days before arrival, and you will be asked for the QR code at immigration.
Private transfer vs other ways to reach Cap Cana
| Option | Door to door | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | 15–25 min | Straight to your door, fixed price per vehicle, driver waiting in arrivals. |
| Shared resort shuttle | 45–90 minutes | Included in some packages. It waits for passengers from other flights and can stop at several hotels, so a 15-minute drive takes far longer. Fine if it is free and you are in no hurry. |
| Airport taxi | 15–25 minutes | Taxis wait outside arrivals and are quick once you are moving, but you queue after the flight and the fare is set at the rank. Practical for two people with light luggage. |
| Rental car | 15–25 minutes plus the desk | Useful if you plan to explore beyond Cap Cana, such as day trips along the coast, but add the rental desk and insurance, then unfamiliar roads on arrival. |

Vehicles, prices and what's included
You pay one fixed price for the vehicle, not per seat, quoted for your date and group before you book. Tolls, fuel and parking are in the price, and so is waiting time: 60 minutes from your actual landing, or 15 minutes at a hotel or address pickup.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Couples and solo travellers |
| Executive sedan | Up to 3 passengers | 2–3 suitcases | Mercedes E-Class or similar |
| Minivan | Up to 7 passengers | 6–7 suitcases | Families and golf or ski bags |
| Minibus | 8–16 passengers | One suitcase each | Groups, weddings, events |
Exact models vary by local partner. Tell us about oversized luggage, golf bags, skis or strollers and we will size the vehicle to fit.
Not included: waiting beyond the free time, and stops or detours added on the day. Planned stops are fine: ask for them with your quote and they are priced in. Tipping is up to you.
Who the Cap Cana transfer suits
Golfers
Punta Espada and Las Iguanas are both Jack Nicklaus Signature courses inside Cap Cana. A minivan carries up to seven players with golf bags; tell us how many.
Families
Child seats fitted before pickup, a minivan for up to seven with luggage, and family resorts such as the Hyatt Ziva about a quarter of an hour away. One price for the car.
Anglers and yacht guests
The marina is the base for Cap Cana’s sportfishing charters and tournaments. We drop you at the marina or your marina hotel, with room for rods if you tell us in advance.
Couples and honeymooners
Adults-only resorts such as Secrets and Hyatt Zilara are 15 to 20 minutes away. No shuttle stops, and an executive sedan if you want a smarter car for the occasion.
Plan the rest of your Cap Cana stay
- Fill in the E-Ticket before you fly. The Dominican Republic’s online entry and exit form can be completed up to seven days ahead, and immigration asks for the QR code.
- Book dinner at the marina for one of your first evenings. Its oceanfront restaurants are a short ride from most Cap Cana hotels, and booking ahead is wise in high season.
- Golfers should reserve Punta Espada and Las Iguanas tee times before travelling, especially between December and April. If you play on arrival day, tell us your tee time and we plan the pickup around it.
- Flying private? Punta Cana also has VIP and FBO terminals with their own apron. Tell us when you book and your driver waits there instead of at Terminal A or B.
- Planning a two-island trip? We also run transfers in Jamaica, from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios, and in Mexico from Cancún to Tulum.
- For your flight home, leave Cap Cana about two and a half to three hours before an international departure. The drive is short, so most of that time is for check-in and security.
