Airport transfers in Seychelles

Private transfers across Seychelles

Almost every trip to the Seychelles starts on Mahé, the largest island, at Seychelles International Airport near Victoria. From there, visitors either stay on Mahé or move on to Praslin and La Digue by ferry or a short domestic flight; a night or two on Mahé first takes the pressure off a tight connection.

We run fixed-price transfers from the airport to Beau Vallon, Mahé’s most popular beach, and quote any other address on the island: Victoria and Eden Island, the south and west coast resorts, and the inter-island ferry quay. Mahé is mountainous, with narrow, winding roads, so a driver who knows them is worth having on arrival day. Your driver tracks the flight, waits at arrivals and takes you to the door, with one price for the whole vehicle.

Getting between the islands

Cat Cocos ferries sail daily from Victoria to Praslin in about 1 hour 15 minutes, and on to La Digue in another 15 minutes; direct sailings to La Digue take about 1 hour 10 minutes. Passengers must be at the quay 30 minutes before departure.

By air, Air Seychelles runs daily flights between Mahé and Praslin from the domestic terminal, a short distance north of the international one. Zil Air flies helicopters to other islands, and IDC serves the outer islands. We drive you between your Mahé hotel and the quay or the airport whenever you need.

Driving on Mahé

The Seychelles drives on the left. The UK Foreign Office describes Mahé’s roads as narrow and winding, often with sheer drops and hairpin bends, not all with guardrails, and with deep open storm drains beside many of them. Potholes can appear suddenly after heavy rain. A UK photocard licence is valid for three months.

Public buses cost little but are infrequent on some routes, and most stop by 20:00. Taxis wait outside the airport; some have meters, and where they do not, agree the fare first.

Best time to travel

The weather follows two wind seasons. From about December to March the north-west monsoon makes west-coast beaches, Beau Vallon among them, rougher and sometimes unsafe for swimming. From about May to September the south-east trade winds do the same to the east coast, and the west is calmer. Heavy tropical showers can come in any month. Every visitor needs a Seychelles travel authorisation before flying, from seychelles.govtas.com.

Seychelles airport transfers: your questions

Do I need a travel authorisation for the Seychelles?

Yes. All travellers must apply before they fly, through the official portal at seychelles.govtas.com. Use that site rather than a look-alike.

How do I get from Mahé to Praslin and La Digue?

By Cat Cocos ferry from Victoria, about 1 hour 15 minutes to Praslin and 15 minutes more to La Digue, or by Air Seychelles domestic flight from the airport to Praslin.

Which side of the road do they drive on in the Seychelles?

The left. Mahé’s roads are narrow, steep and winding, A transfer on arrival lets you learn them later, rested and in daylight.

Can you drive us to the ferry after a night on Mahé?

Yes. Enter your hotel and the ferry quay in Victoria in the quote form. From Beau Vallon the drive takes about 15 to 20 minutes, outside the rush hour.
