Private transfers across Montenegro
Montenegro’s coast packs a great deal into a short stretch: the fjord-like Bay of Kotor, the walled towns of Kotor and Perast, the superyacht marina at Porto Montenegro and the beaches of the Budva riviera. Tivat Airport sits in the middle of it, 8 km from Kotor and about 25 minutes from Budva.
We drive from Tivat to Budva, Bečići and Sveti Stefan, and quote any address from Herceg Novi to Petrovac. Plenty of visitors fly into Dubrovnik Airport instead and cross the border by road; we cover that trip too, and Croatia’s coast, including the Dubrovnik Old Town transfer, is on our Croatia page.
Your driver meets you at arrivals, tracks your flight and takes you as close to your door as the road allows, with one fixed price for the whole vehicle.
Borders, currency and documents
Montenegro uses the euro but is not a member of the EU or the Schengen area, so every arriving passenger goes through passport control. Check the entry rules for your nationality before you travel.
The main road crossing from Croatia is Debeli Brijeg, opposite Karasovići on the Croatian side, on the coast road between Dubrovnik and Herceg Novi. Croatia is in Schengen, so non-EU travellers have their exit and entry recorded there in the EU Entry/Exit System. Allow extra time in summer.
Roads on the coast
The M-1, Montenegro’s section of the Adriatic Highway, links Herceg Novi, Kotor, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj. The Vrmac tunnel brings Kotor within about 12 minutes of Tivat Airport, and the short Kamenari–Lepetane car ferry across the Bay of Kotor saves the long drive around it.
Inland, the Sozina tunnel shortens the trip from Podgorica to Bar, and the first section of the new motorway north of Podgorica opened in July 2022. Any road or tunnel tolls are included in your transfer price.
When to travel
The coast is busiest from June to September, and Budva is at its liveliest in July and August. Many flights to Tivat are seasonal, running roughly from spring to autumn, so in winter some visitors fly to Podgorica or Dubrovnik instead. May, June and September bring warm seas and lighter traffic.
