Hong Kong International Airport sits on its own island off Lantau, about 35 km from Central. Every road into the city crosses the Tsing Ma Bridge, and for Hong Kong Island a tunnel under Victoria Harbour too.
Hong Kong's public transport is excellent, and Airport Express trains reach Central in 24 minutes, running about every 10 minutes. A private transfer makes sense when the station is not where you are going, which on hilly Hong Kong Island is often the case: the Mid-Levels, Admiralty, Sheung Wan or Wan Chai, with luggage, children, a group or a late landing. Roads, bridges and tunnels
Hong Kong drives on the left. The road from the airport crosses the Lantau Link, toll-free since December 2020, and reaches Hong Kong Island through one of the cross-harbour tunnels, which are tolled. All tolls are included in our prices. The tunnels and their approach roads are the slow points at weekday rush hours.
In very strong winds, traffic on the Tsing Ma Bridge can be moved to the sheltered lower deck, or the bridge can close.
Weather and typhoon season
The Hong Kong Observatory describes November and December as the most pleasant months, with sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Summer is hot and humid, and about 80 per cent of the year's rain falls between May and September.
Tropical cyclones can affect Hong Kong from May to November, most often from July to September. At Signal No. 8 and above, flights are often cancelled and much of the city stops. If your flight changes, message us and we will move the pickup.
Arriving at Hong Kong Airport
All arriving passengers use Terminal 1 and come out into Arrival Hall A or B. Terminal 2 reopened in May 2026 for departures only, so on your way home tell us your airline and we will drop you at the right building.
